July 2023 Progress Report

It’s been over two years since my last progress report, and so I hope this one will be satisfying for all who’ve been waiting for updates. While I may have seemingly disappeared, I’ve been working hard and writing every day, and I finally have some solid news to share this time around. I’m also working on a new schedule to ensure progress reports, and other updates, come out regularly. And, finally, The Red Flag book has once again earned good news. Let’s get into it!

The Science Fiction Update

Those of you excited about this project may be disappointed to know that it’s going on the back burner temporarily. I have no intention to ever scrap this project, but the work I’ve done so far isn’t living up to my own standards and expectations. I’m still very excited about the story and the characters, but the drafts I’ve completed have only frustrated me. Since the last progress report, I’ve put this project on the back burner. The good news is that it’s been over two years, so I’ve lately been feeling that itch to jump back on it. Working on a different project in the meantime has also helped to freshen up my mind so that when I do go back to it, I’ll be able to do so with renewed vigor and creativity.

The Historical Romance Update

While the sci-fi project has been on the back burner, I’ve made a lot of progress with the historical romance. In the last report, I shared that I had finished my research and would soon begin planning and plotting. Well, since that report, I had plenty of time to get to work and completed about a dozen other steps. In fact, I’d like to officially announce that I’ve completed writing the first draft! This project as a whole still needs a lot of work and there will be several drafts to come, but I’m pleased and excited at this accomplishment. The next steps are to revise, revise, and revise. While publishing isn’t on the forecast just yet, sending the manuscript to my revision team (and, eventually, beta readers) is just around the corner. There’s also a possibility that this project may be completed before the science fiction one which would create a change in the previously outlined roadmap. I’ll keep you all updated if that becomes the case.

The Historical Romance Details

With this news, I think it’s about time to share some more details about this project. It takes place a couple of years after the end of the American Civil War and follows the struggles of a veteran as he attempts to take care of his young daughter. When he enlists the help of a nanny, he finds that help comes in more ways than one. A proper synopsis is still to come, but I hope this teaser is exciting. Be on the lookout for updates to this book’s page soon.

The Red Flag Book

In case you missed it, The Red Flag book has won second place in the historical fiction category of the Incipere Awards, hosted by Entrada Publishing. Check out the last blog post to see the official certificate! And be sure to pick up a copy from Amazon if you haven’t already.

This is an exciting time for each of these projects. I’m making great progress, and I can’t wait to share the next updates as they come. Thank you for your support!
